Bomb squad scrambled to popular hotel after TWO explosives found
AN AREA near a popular hotel has been locked down after TWO explosives were discovered in the grounds.
Police have sealed off part of the Ben Wyvis Hotel in Strathpeffer, Highlands.
Bomb disposal experts have also been alerted to the shocking find.
The alarm was raised around 2.30pm this afternoon.
Cops received a report that two ordnance devices were found during construction work at the premises.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report that two ordnance items were found in the grounds of a property on Main Street, Strathpeffer, around 2.30pm on Wednesday, 10 May, 2023.
“Officers remain at the scene and EOD (the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team) have been contacted.”
The hotel is continuing to operate as normal but residents and guests are having to use a side entrance.
A Ben Wyvis Hotel spokesperson said they are unable to comment at this time.
