I’m a pro decorator & you’ve been painting your walls wrong – the right way gives your house a glow up with no effort
A PROFESSIONAL decorator has revealed that everyone’s been doing the painting in their home wrong – but luckily he was on hand to dish out his expert advice.
He revealed that many budding DIY painters would opt for a simple paintbrush, or handheld roller, and start at the bottom or top of the wall.

However, he quickly corrected their technique and shared how to do it the right way – revealing that it requires much less effort to transform your home.
Social media’s aptly named Paint Warrior uploaded a video where he went into full detail.
He said: “Now, obviously I don’t need to tell any professional decorator this, but the majority of the time any DIYers or people that attempt to paint themselves are hand-rolling.”
He then shared what he commonly sees, as he dabbed his roller in the paint tray and began at the bottom of the wall, before having to stretch upwards .
Pointing out why it was wrong, Paint Warrior, who can be found on TikTok at their profile @paint_warrior, said: “They’re constantly bent down, they’re overstretching and it’s uncomfortable,
“They’re using too much energy and not getting enough work done.”
Instead, the TikToker said it’s as simple as investing in one bit of equipment and changing up the order you do things.
Paint Warrior told his 886k followers: “So for the sake of £20 – £30 quid, get yourself a decent roller pole.”
He then showed the difference it makes, as he used it to get some fresh paint onto his roller.
He explained: “Already just loading it up like this, it’s a lot more comfortable.”
Paint Warrior then revealed his go-to method to getting the job done quicker and more effectively.
He said: “Position yourself away from the wall, start in the middle.
“Then hit that top and bottom cut and you are literally covering twice the amount of area and you are using half the amount of energy.
“You can keep going at this rate all day long.”
His followers were certainly impressed with his advice, as they said it made things instantly better.
One wrote: “Been doing this for years, sure does save your back.”
A second said: “Get a better finish too.”
While a third pointed out: “That’s right but you will still need 2 or 3 coats of undercoat if you are covering dark colours.”
