I’m tired of people saying my baby’s unique name is ‘evil’ – an ‘unhinged individual’ even yelled in my son’s face
A MOM has been to hell and back over her baby’s unique name.
She’s been told that his name is “evil” and she had an “unhinged individual” yell in his face on account of her choice.
Any dark connotations around her son’s name seem to have surprised her.
But now it has dawned on her, her distress about his future with a name that conjures devilish imps was clear.
She took her concern to the online forum Reddit for some reassurance.
The comments to her post at worse merely confirmed her dreaded suspicions, and at best, discovered it was a great name for a family pet.
“My son’s name is Lucifer Scott,” she wrote. “I’m tired of people telling him his name is evil.”
She then revealed the reason why the name Lucifer was chosen in the first place.
“He was named after my husband’s dad who committed suicide when my husband was 16 and his dad was 30,” she said.
They were not a religious family, so for them, Lucifer had no negative associations.
Sadly, it most certainly did for others.
“Tonight someone yelled at my baby’s face like an unhinged individual. This is just the start of the negativity for poor baby Lucifer” she cried.
She begged for nice words at the end of her post, but they were few and far between.
The first comment started well.“Lucifer is the bringer of light. I don’t see the problem,” they said.
This person liked it too but that was about as far as they were prepared to go: “Lucifer is beautiful in my opinion but that’s a name you just can’t use.”
Another said: “[That’s a] pretty bold to name a kid that outright.”
This commenter agreed: “Naming your child Lucifer is also pretty stupid, knowing that people would be weirded out,” they said.
Food for thought came from this feline lover: “Poor Lucifer. I’ve gotten some weird comments about my cat named Lucifer. I can’t imagine what it’s gonna be like for that kid.”
The final commenter didn’t hold back, there were no soothing words from them.
“Don’t pretend to be angry and surprised now that you and your child are experiencing the fallout resulting from naming your child Lucifer,” they said.
