This Morning insiders confirm Phillip Schofield WILL return to show tomorrow with Holly Willoughby
PHILLIP Schofield will return to This Morning tomorrow alongside Holly Willoughby.
There were doubts he would be back following news of their rift.
A show insider told The Sun Phil would be back on screen alongside Holly.
The Sun first revealed news of their fallout last week, with insiders confirming the pair had started to grow apart.
Phil then issued a statement to The Sun calling Holly his “best friend” a move which left her blindsided.
Today The Sun revealed the pair had turned their back on peace talks and were determined to move forward.
In an orchestrated move, ITV and representatives for each of the This Morning presenters categorically denied mediation sessions would be held.
A show source told The Sun on Sunday it would now be “too late” for outside help.
The source said they were worried their working relationship has broken down irretrievably and added: “Holly just wants Phil gone.”
It comes as This Morning refused to confirm on Friday whether Monday’s show would go ahead as planned.
Phil and Holly usually front the show from Monday to Thursday, but ITV are keeping tight-lipped about whether they will both be on the sofa next week amid reports of ‘crisis talks’ behind the scenes.
The pair – who are said to have grown distant in recent months amid a ‘fallout‘ – were last seen together on Thursday morning’s show, where a body language expert claimed they looked “painfully uncomfortable” next to each other.
At one point they even engaged in a dance to Lulu’s hit Boom Bang A Bang, which many viewers labelled as ‘awkward’ on social media.
That was before Phillip issued a surprise statement to The Sun on Thursday night, admitting “things haven’t been easy” amid rumours of a rift between him and Holly.
Holly is said to have been ‘blindsided’ by the statement and felt ‘betrayed’ and ‘deeply upset’.
Sources on the show have detailed the “shocking” atmosphere behind the scenes in the wake of the fallout.
The source said: “It is awful. The atmosphere is shocking.
“When the cameras stop, so do they. No chat, no communication. It used to be relaxed and friendly.
“It seems that Holly clearly wants to stay — and a lot of the team want Phillip gone. It is not a pleasant working environment for a place that used to be such fun when they were mates.”
