Sex workers use our local park to meet seedy clients even though it’s next to a primary school – it’s terrible
USED condoms and ripped underwear have been found in park used by sex workers just yards from a primary school playground.
Locals have now complained about sex workers using the Sparkhill Park area in Birmingham which is next to St John’s C of E Primary School’s playground.
Birmingham Live reported that ripped underwear and condoms were found behind three large hedges in the park.
Young women have been seen being dropped off in the area, where they meet men for sex in the park.
A police unit responsible for the park area posted that the park is being used for “sexual activities by some of the local residents.”
The Sparkhill WM team recently carried out a clean-up in the park.
The team posted a message on Twitter that read: “Sparkhill following a number of patrols in Sparkhill Park, officers have come across not so pleasant things @BhamCityCouncil and @ehbham shall be informed. In the meantime we got the park hotspots cleaned.”
Locals told Birmingham Live that the problem was getting worse and that street lighting was a problem in the area.
A mum who asked not to be named said: “I know it has been going on a while.
“My children don’t go to St John’s, but it’s terrible this is happening so close to a school.
“Maybe more street lighting might deter what’s going on.”
The popular park features three children’s play areas, two hard court areas for ball games and grassed areas for junior football and cricket.
A Birmingham City Council spokesperson said : “All forms of anti-social behaviour in our city are unacceptable and we stand ready to work with partner organisations and communities to address issues that arise.”
