Rich House, Poor House viewers have A LOT of complaints about show’s new format
VIEWERS of the Channel 5 show are all saying the same thing about the format of last night’s episode.
Rich House, Poor House fans were left feeling confused as they try to figure out which family was supposed to be considered the ‘poor’ one.
The latest episode exposed what happens when new-money and old-money millionaires swap lives.
Viewers were introduced to a woman who was a proudly born working class citizen, but is now one of Liverpool’s richest women.
She revealed that her business had turned around £7 million last year.
Meanwhile, the Pennington family were living in a castle their family has owned for over 800 years.
But, even though their castle home is worth millions, they said they are struggling to make ends meet.
The castle has 84 rooms but when the Liverpudlian arrived into the castle, she said she felt like a peasant.
However, viewers failed to see the difference between who was rich and who was poor.
They disagreed with the Pennington family being branded as ‘poor’ because they are living in a castle worth millions.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “When did Rich House, Poor House become Rich House, Rich House?”
Another wrote: “How can they be classed as a poor house when the people on the one side of this swap actually own a castle?”
A third added: “Trying to figure out which one is poor.”
This comes after Channel 5 announced Rich House, Poor House was getting a spin off which only features wealthy people.
They are currently filming a pilot called Old Money New Money, which involves a similar experiment where two families from opposite ends of the economic spectrum swap homes for a week to find out about each other’s lives.
Except the new show will involve two well-off families — one from old money, the other from new.
A TV insider said: “If this proves popular it could lead to a full series, which is sure to delight fans of Rich House, Poor House.
“Although it’s a slightly different set-up it’s still based on the same theme of watching how people adjust to a different way of living.
“And that’s been the key to the success of the original show. Now Channel 5 will be hoping this spin-off works just as well.”
The show will include one group of people who struck it rich through business, hard work or a lucky windfall who see what it’s like to live the lifestyle of people who have had their wealth handed down to them.
Rich House, Poor House airs on Sundays from 9pm on Channel 5.
