I got a fright after finding something disgusting in my Sainsbury’s toilet roll
A SHOPPER says they got a fright after they discovered something in her Sainsbury’s toilet rolls.
Jenny Conroy bought the loo paper from a store in Charlton, South London.
But when she unwrapped the bog roll she said she noticed 20 insects crawling over the tissue.
Jenny also noticed small holes in the toilet roll.
She was shrugged off with a £10 voucher – prompting the shopper to upload the snap on social media to warn others.
Jenny complained to the supermarket giant online.
She said: “Just spoke to one of your colleagues on the phone about finding a bug infestation in your own brand toilet rolls.
“They very kindly offered to send me a £10 goodwill gesture.
“But don’t seem to have any concern or urgency of trying to find out where they’ve come from or that maybe they should be taken off the shelves until we know it wasn’t a wider issue?
“You can see in the photo all of the holes they were coming out of’
“Two darting across the outside of it too.
“The lady on the phone wasn’t interested in being sent them, in order to investigate.
“I have seen these little holes on the toilet roll before and didn’t realise that it was insects causing them.”
Other shoppers were shocked at the unwanted guests.
Anita Shower said: “That’s awful, it shouldn’t happen.
“They have a storage problem? Or the lorry that delivers them?
“They need to source the issue and keep you updated.”
But others were less sympathetic.
Alex Grant said: “Do you eat the toilet rolls or something?
“Not sure why you are so bothered about it.”
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson replied to Jenny and said: “I’m terribly sorry about the toilet roll.
“Can you pop me over a private message with a picture of the item’s barcode and the name of the store you visited?
“Can you also include your address and Nectar card number?”
The Sun Online has approached Sainsbury’s for comment.
