I’m a cleaning queen – 3 ways to stop mould lingering in your bathroom, it’s a godsend for girls who LOVE hot showers
GETTING rid of mould in your home can be tricky and expensive to do.
But some spots, like bathrooms, are more likely to have lingering mould that’s harder to get rid of.
Luckily, cleaning whizz Jacqueline Stein, 27, shared three simple ways you can stop mould from growing in the first place, and they’re really easy to do.
First of all, if you have a fan in your bathroom you should always make sure it’s turned on as soon as you get in the shower and for at least 30 minutes afterwards.
“I know you like a hot shower, but your bathroom hates it, the pro said on Instagram.
If you don’t have a bathroom fan make sure you leave the bathroom door and a window open to let the hot steam out.
Jacqueline’s next trick might seem simple, but it can make a massive difference.
She said: “Always expand you shower curtain fully to ensure that it dries out and no moisture is trapped in the creases causing mould.”
If you have a shower door instead of a curtain you should squeegee it immediately after you’ve showered, and the same goes for bathroom tiles.
Finally, the cleaning pro suggested using a post-shower spray to stop mould and mildew developing.
You can use a hydrogen peroxide spray or a homemade mix of vinegar and water, she explained.
“Either of these options will help combat odours and prevent the growth of bacteria and build up of grime.”
She continued: “This also allows you to go a little longer between cleans without having to scrub so much next time.”
Other cleaning fans loved how easy the tips are and couldn’t wait to try them out in their own home.
“Sent this to hubby, maybe this will resonate with him,” one joked.
And another commented: “We just put a dehumidifier in every room.”
