I’m an interior designer & there’s an item which screams ‘doctor’s office’- but, be warned, they’re SO popular
YOU might think adding plants to your home is a really simple way to elevate your space – but according to this interior designer there’s more to it than you might think.
Phoenix Grey shared three of the major mistakes people make time and time again, and one of them is really tacky.
According to the pro, any kind of curated fake flowers, like the boxes posh roses the Kardashian’s and tonnes of social media influencers love, are a big no-no.
“I completely understand there’s a cult following for these, but really they do nothing.
“They look so bland in your space and honestly, they look really tacky,” he said.
Equally as bad, having one lone snake plant in the corner of a room can look a bit sad, Phoenix explained.
“It’s giving me medical office vibes,” the interior pro said.
Sure, it might add some colour and be relatively low maintenance, but it’s not the trendy look you think it is.
“There’s no character or added dimension to your space,” Phoenix continued.
That said, you shouldn’t go overboard and hoard tonnes of plants either.
It can end up looking cluttered and messy, which isn’t really what you want to go for in your home.
Phoenix quipped: “Honestly, I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for this one but it had to be said.”
Not everyone agreed with his plant-based opinions though, and many commented on the TikTok clip to share their love of plants.
“You’ll never stop me hoarding plants,” one joked.
And a second wrote: “I don’t appreciate being attacked like this.”
But some agreed with the pro, one commented: “Yep. My trigger is the lone faux olive tree in the corner.”
“I was wondering why my lone snake plant was giving me ick vibes for so long, now I understand,” another said.
