Dresden heist: Gang guilty of world’s biggest gems raid after stealing diamond sword in £100m Ocean’s Eleven vault siege
A GANG has been found guilty of one of the world’s biggest heists as they made off with nearly £100million worth of jewels and a diamond-encrusted sword.
The jewel thieves meticulously planned the audacious raid in the German city of Dresden – pilfering the loot from the so-called Green Vault at the city’s Royal Palace.

Five members of the gang were handed sentences of up to six years in prison at at the Higher Regional Court in Dresden.
They were all members a notorious crime family known as the “Remmo Clan”.
The crooks – who have not been named due to strict German privacy laws – made off with some £98million of loot in the early hours of November 25, 2019.
Some of their swag has been returned to the museum – but much of it remains missing and is feared to be lost forever.
Like something out Hollywood movies like Ocean’s Eleven, the heist was meticulously planned and executed with precision.
After several visits to case the museum, the gang struck under the cover of darkness.
They set fire to a circuit breaker panel near the museum – shutting down the street lights on the surrounding streets and disabling the museum’s alarm.
And then two of the gang slipped inside the museum, with some of the bars on one of the window’s being pre-cut with a hydraulic saw.
