Urgent warning to dog owners as vet reveals why you need to keep common bathroom items away from your pet
A VET has revealed the reason why you need to keep common bathroom items away from your dog.
The pooch expert took to TikTok to explain the hidden dangers behind a seemingly innocent bath toy.
The ER vet, known by her followers on social media as @traveling_dogtor, posted a video of a dog’s endoscopy to reveal how small plastic bath ducks can get lodged in your pets stomach.
The 20 second clip begins with an image of an x-ray, showing something round stuck in the pups belly.
“What the duck,” the post was captioned.
The vet then filmed the brown pooch laying on a table while a camera and scope were lowered into its belly.
Dog lovers were left teary-eyed seeing the poor mutt on its side while having the surgical instruments inserted down the dog’s throat.
Viewers were shown the camera screen until a foreign green object appeared tucked away in the flesh.
With some pulling and tugging, the vet was able to drag out a plastic duck that had been wedged in the dog’s body.
One other vet was seen holding the dogs mouth open as the big toy struggled to be released from the pup’s jaws.
She then held the neon green duck in the air for her co-workers to see as it dripped in saliva.
After the grisly removal video, fans were left in stitches when the vet “reunited” the toy with the rest of it’s colourful plastic family.
The post quickly racked up over 1.1million likes and over 3,000 comments from concerned dog lovers.
One wrote: “That poor dogs throat had to hurt so bad after this”.
Another said: “How are those swallowed without being chewed!”
A third commented: “Are you kidding meeee????”
A fourth added: “The poor dog omg I can’t imagine the pain it had”.
Another chimed in: “Awww the poor baby”.
The Traveling Dogtor is known by her 7,523 followers for posting short clips on mental health and dog advice and has amassed a whopping 1.3million likes on her page overall.
This comes after one vet revealed some simple tricks that can help your dog live longer – and they won’t break the bank.
While another vet gave his top tips to save hundreds of pounds while taking excellent care of your pet pooch.
And one more vet issued an urgent warning to dog owners over little-known signs that could mean your pet is in serious pain.
