First Dates’ Fred Sirieix reveals gruesome operation as fans wish him a speedy recovery
FIRST Dates presenter Fred Sirieix has revealed a gruesome injury as he admitted his body “hurts” following an essential operation.
It came after the Channel 4 star exclusively opened up to The Sun on becoming a sex symbol aged 51.
Fred, best known for welcoming First Dates singletons into the iconic eatery, took to his Instagram page to reveal his thumb on his left hand all bandaged up.
The chunky white material was wrapped thickly around his digit yet had already been smeared with blood.
It was taped onto his hand with a plaster and in his caption, he wrote: “Bonjour. What a Monday! Just got my thumb nail removed!!!!
“It hurts! Not only that but doing anything with one incapacitated thumb is not easy.
“Apparently it heals quite fast. GOOD! Let’s see what the next 24 / 48 hours are like. Have a good day x”
Fans were quick to share his pain, with one writing in the comments section: “Ouch! Cake is the greatest healer.”
A second put: “Poor you @fred_sirieix at least it’s your left hand? Speedy recovery champ.”
A third posted: “Ouch poor thing,” before another put: “Sorry you are in the wars Fred, I hope it heals quickly xx”
Earlier this month, Fred revealed all about being an unexpected ‘heart-throb’ and how he does 301 push-ups a day – although this may be in question with his injury.
Fred told how he was taken aback by the attention he gets over his looks – and maintains it’s all part of his lifestyle – even more so since he turned 50.
The star of the hit C4 dating show told The Sun: “First of all I’m no heartthrob – but it’s nice of people to say.
“You’ve got to work up a sweat. That’s the secret.
“Everyday I wake up, I have a coffee and then I go and do my sports. I do my 301 push ups, I do all sorts of exercises, I cycle on my bike. I train, I do my boxing training. It’s every single day.
“It’s about moving. As soon as I wake up. I get a good sweat. That’s a secret to good skin. A good sweat in the morning. Sweating. It’s great.
Fred spoke about how he started to push himself even further with his exercise after he turned 50.
He said: “When you turn 50 and you are getting older, you realise you can’t do the things that you did before because you degenerate.
“And sadly that’s the word. So the only way to combat the degeneration is to keep going harder than you were going when you were 30.”
