I’m a vet nurse – here are the best dogs for first time owners and those you should AVOID
A VET nurse has recommended the best dogs for first time owners and which pooches to avoid.
Animal lover Tess Nolan took to social media to explain why some pets were better suited to novices than others.
In the clip, TikToker @tessvetnurse was seen enthusiastic as she sprang towards the camera with suitable breed recommendations.
Tess said: “These are the best dogs for first time owners.
“Golden Retrievers.
“Cavoodles.
“Labradors.
“Australian Shepherds.”
However, in a follow up video the dog lover also claimed that some breeds should be avoided.
Tess said: “Three dog breeds I would never own, after knowing what I know and what I’ve seen working as a vet nurse.”
Firstly, Tess explained that she wouldn’t own any dog that is white and fluffy.
She noted: “I personally wouldn’t own a breed like a Maltese or a Bichon, or anything kind of white and fluffy.”
Secondly, she revealed that she wouldn’t own a working dog.
She continued: “I would never own a Border Collie or a Kelpie or a working dog – they are way too high maintenance.”
Finally, Tess claimed there was a certain breed of dog that was too naughty.
She concluded: “I would never own a West Highland White Terrier – they are so naughty.
“That’s not to say I don’t love these dogs – but they’re just not suited to my lifestyle.”
