Ten Pound Poms viewers call out major blunder in Michelle Keegan drama – fuming ‘I give up!’
TEN pound Poms viewers spotted a major mistake on Michelle Keegan’s new drama – as they raged “I give up!”.
The brand new BBC One show aired its second episode last night, which stars Michelle Keegan and Warren Brown.
Ten Pound Poms follows a group of Brits who leave the country in search of a better life for just £10.
But viewers were not impressed when they spotted a major blunder in the episode, when one of the actors had to make an international phone call.
Those watching at home criticised the era in which the periodic drama was set, pointing out that it couldn’t have been feasible to make international phone calls that easily.
Taking to Twitter to vent their frustration, one viewer wrote: “Hmmm… very quick connection and excellent sound quality on that phone call. In 1956. I would have thought you’d have to BOOK an international call in 1956. #TenPoundPoms.”
A second agreed and echoed: “I don’t think you could call from the UK to France then, let alone from one side of the world to the other. Also the call she made would have been so expensive that the few minutes she was on the phone would have cost the entire weeks wages of a working person.”
A third person tweeted: “Giving up on #TenPoundPoms Production values are poor and script predictable. International direct dialling from Australia in the 50s? She’ll be sending a fax to her mam next.”
A fourth complained: “This is why I can’t be bothered to watch these type of shows on the BBC, it’s just c**p.”
While a fifth fumed: “Why are they acting like it was normal to make international calls in the 50s!!”
But despite some negative comments about the innaccuracy of the show, many loved Michelle Keegan‘s performance in the new drama.
One wrote: “Michelle is so talented. Love her.”
Another added: “She’s so good in this!!”
