A DRIVER who caused the death of a mum when the Range Rover he was speeding in smashed onto train tracks has been jailed.

Yagmur Ozden, 33, was a passenger in the car when it ploughed into a stationary Tesla before crashing through a wall on the A40 near Ealing, West London.

The £120,000 motor then somersaulted onto Tube tracks at Park Royal station during the horror in August last year.

Rida Kazem, 23, has now been jailed for seven-and-a-half after he pleaded guilty to causing Yagmur’s death in the horror crash.

He also admitted causing serious injury to a second passenger, Yagmur’s best friend Zamarod Arif, 26.

She miraculously escaped the deadly crash with a broken arm and broken leg.

Sickeningly, reckless Kazem attempted to shift the blame to his victims by suggesting one of the women was driving.

Judge Martin Edmunds said: “I have no doubt that you were showing off to your passengers, both showing off your powerful car but also what you thought of as your superior driving skills.

“What is all to clear is that your skills were wholly inadequate.”

Yagmur’s family gasped and sobbed today as footage of the collision was played at Isleworth Crown Court.

Kazem’s black Range Rover Sport SVR hit a top speed of 110mph on the 40mph road before he lost control.

The 4×4 smashed into a stationary Tesla, occupied by a taxi driver who was charging the car, before ending up a “mangled heap of metal” on the tube tracks below.

Baghdad-born beautician Yagmur was declared dead at the scene around 40 minutes after the crash.

She had to be identified by police through her fingerprints after being catapulted from the car.

A post-mortem examination gave a cause of death as multiple traumatic injuries and blunt force trauma.

Kazem was placed in an induced coma after being found on the platform of the station.

His left leg was amputated and he remained in hospital for several months.

Prosecutor Nicholas Hearn said he has previous speeding convictions, including one offence for driving 95mph in a 50mph zone and was banned from driving for six months in November 2020.

Yagmur, who leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter, was described as “an angel” in tributes from her family.

They added: “She had an amazing bond with her daughter and her daughter will always cherish those moments she had with her mum.

“She was very funny and could cheer up the saddest person instantly, putting them in a better mood.”

Zamarod previously described her “miracle escape” as she revealed she was “so lucky to be alive”.

A 56-year-old man, who is believed to have been with the parked Tesla when the Range Rover hit it, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
