Who are Nicola Payne’s parents Marilyn and John and where are they now?
IT is every parent’s worst nightmare to be told their child has gone missing.
But for Marilyn and John, this happened to their daughter Nicola, who vanished without a trace in 1991.
Who are Nicola Payne’s parents Marilyn and John?
Marily and John Payne’s daughter Nicola went missing on 14 December 14, 1991.
They have fought endlessly hard to find her since she disappeared after visiting her boyfriend’s house in Coventry and never returned.
It’s almost certain she was abducted, killed and her body dumped in a lake or canal near to where she went missing.
Three decades later, Nicola is presumed dead, but her body has never been found and her devastated family are unable to properly grieve.
Every Christmas is a cruel reminder of their devastating loss.
Where are they now?
In March 2023 Nicola’s heartbroken mum Marilyn died aged 77, before there was a chance to discover the truth.
Writing on the Find Nicola Payne Facebook page, her family said: “Nicola’s family are devastated to announce the death of her mum, Marilyn Payne.
“A tenacious woman who never gave up on finding her daughter and laying her to rest.
“The bravery she showed was extraordinary, and now her determination will continue through her family and many friends in order to finally bring Nicola home.”
Nicola’s dad is appearing in a brand new Amazon Prime docu-series called Never Ending Murder.
The four-part series features first-hand testimony from Nicola’s heartbroken family.
Her dad and brother Nigel talk about her disappearance, alongside witnesses, plus the lead police detectives who carried out the investigation.
What have they said about Nicola Payne’s disappearance?
John and Marilyn both previously said they will “never give up hope” of finding their daughter and “putting an end to our suffering”.
They said: “She was our little girl and our hearts break when we look back at family photos.
“We want closure and to be able to lay our daughter to rest before we leave this life ourselves.”
West Midlands Police said a £10,000 reward for any information that helps to find Ms Payne is still active.
Several arrests have been made over the years but a bungled police investigation and a 2015 court case resulted in two suspects being acquitted.
Anyone with information about Nicola’s disappearance can contact West Midlands Police on 101 or via its Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8 am and midnight.
