Local media claimed the tourists were being driven by a woman in a grey Toyota when its tyre popped and the group stopped to repair it.
Shortly after, a group of men drove past and inquired about the accident.
According to police, the men informed them that a tyre shop was nearby and drove off.
The same car then returned not long after, and two men reportedly rushed the vehicle.
One of the crooks brandished a knife and held up one of the retirees and stole an envelope containing £6,000.
The other Brit was robbed of three smartphones and piece of luggage worth roughly £350 in total.
The woman driver was also mugged, and had her driver’s licence and about £40 stolen.
Cops said the thugs were able to flee the scene but an investigation was underway.
A police spokesman said: “We are looking into it.
“We are seeking witnesses and hope to apprehend the suspects with their help.”
