A DETECTIVE inspector has been sacked over sex and drug orgies.

Warren Arter, 53, was barred for gross misconduct having been suspended for a record six-and-a half years on full pay.

A disciplinary panel found he offered to supply cocaine and took drugs at sordid swinging parties.

The £60,000-a-year Met Police officer raked in around £400,000 in salary and perks while sitting at home during the marathon probe.

Arter — who worked on a unit dealing with rape victims in South London — was suspended after he was first arrested in late 2017.

He was held by Met professional standards officers over alleged abuse of his authority as a police officer for a sexual purpose.

More than 3,000 texts and messages were found on his phone and iPad, in which he described depraved scenes, including watching a woman having sex with a man for crack cocaine.

The devices, which both had traces of cocaine on them, contained recordings of his involvement with drugs at sex parties.

He was arrested again in 2018 when the Independent Office for Police Conduct raided his home and found drugs paraphernalia.

In 2020, the CPS decided there was insufficient evidence to charge him.

He was referred for disciplinary action, a process that took two years.

Arter, who spent 27 years with the Met, failed to attend the three-day hearing on ten allegations of gross misconduct earlier this week.

Former Met detective chief inspector Mick Neville said after the hearing: “It is outrageous this case has taken so long to bring against him.”
