Part of my garden was overgrown until I spent £5 in Wilko to give it a glow up, now it’s the ideal play area for my kids
A MUM has revealed she transformed a “neglected” part of her garden into a play area for her kid with a £5 hack.
Georgina Kenny uploaded a video showing how a section of her lawn was overgrown and in need of some TLC.
The mum explained how she hated the old patch because they constantly had to turf it and dig it up due to previous plants popping up.
She explained: “We turfed it, we dug as much as we could and we got it flat.
“We then went in with the membrane and we cut around certain things like plants we wanted to keep.
“We pinned it down, for me I think this was the easiest part.
“We then went in and added some bark that I got from Wilko.
“I think we used about nine bags in total, it was two for £8.
“The black fencing that you see was from Poundland, I’ve got 10 so that’s a tenner’s worth.
“I decided that I wanted to paint the fence so I went to Wilko.”
Next up she decided that she wanted to paint the back fence brown, and picked up some Wilko paint in English Oak for £7.50.
Georgina, who posts under @georginakenny__, continued: “I then added some sensory, multi-coloured handprints all over the fence and then some bunting in the same colours.
“I added this multi-coloured windmill from Poundland.”
To finish off the play area transformation, she added a colourful gazebo from Amazon, a trampoline, some colourful chairs that she picked up for £5 on Facebook Marketplace and a pop-up play tunnel from Amazon.
She concluded: “This is how it is looking, super colourful, super sensory perfect for my almost three-year-old in August and my four-month-old currently.
“I just absolutely love it, I did it on an absolute budget.”
Many people were highly impressed with her budget transformation, with one saying: “looks great, well done mama.”
Another added: “Lucky boys.”
