Mum terrified after stranger reached through car window and ‘touched’ her son as investigation launched
COPS have launched an investigation after a terrified mum witnessed a stranger reach through her car window to touch her young son.
The horrified parents said that the man walked up to the vehicle before touching her five-year-old, who was in the back seat, on the face.
The pair were near Mead Vale School in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, when the scary incident took place at around 3.20pm on May 23.
The mum said that the man, who she estimated to be in his early 20s, explained his actions by saying that he “liked” the boy.
She described the man as Asian and around 6ft tall with dark hair and facial hair.
He is understood to have been wearing a dark grey tracksuit.
The mum called the police that evening to report the creep.
Mead Vale’s head teacher, Jo Jalosynski, told parents about the ordeal, urging them to warn kids about being approached by unknown people.
She said: “If your children walk home alone, please speak to them about stranger danger.”
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that inquiries were underway.
A spokesperson for the force said: “An unknown man is reported to have approached a stationary car near the Kestrel Drive and Mead Vale junction where he reached into the vehicle and touched the face of a young boy, before walking off in the direction of Locking Road.
“The boy sustained no physical injuries. The victim’s mother was with the child at the time and reported the incident a few hours later to police.
“Officers have since attended the family address to understand more about the incident and to check on his welfare.”
