Coronation Street fans heartbroken as Paul Foreman finally reveals he’s dying to sister Gemma Winter on her wedding day
CORONATION Street fans are heartbroken after Paul Foreman revealed he is dying to his sister Gemma Winter on her wedding day.
The builder – who is played by actor Peter Ash in the ITV soap – has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease and is facing a much earlier death than usual.
In tonight’s episode he finally agreed to go to his sister Gemma’s wedding and give her away despite his condition affecting him badly.
Beginning to give his speech, Paul said: “I just want to say I can’t remember the last time I felt this happy.
“My little sister’s all grown up. You know she’s got me out of more trouble than I can remember, mind you she was the one who got me in it in the first place.
“But look at you now… When me and Gemma we’re growing up we were split up quite a lot, but I just keep thinking what a terrible waste that was. All that time…”
But things became too much for Paul and he apologised and rushed out, with Gemma hot on his heels.
She demanded to know what was wrong and wouldn’t listen to his attempts to play it down.
“Just tell me, you can’t fob me off, I’m your twin, I know when you’re lying,” she said. “Just tell me what’s going on.”
“I’m dying,” Paul replied as Bernie walked in. “I’m dying.”
Gemma and Bernie looked shellshocked by the news.
But fans are heartbroken by the emotional scenes.
One wrote: “Why do soaps always get rid of the good characters. His sad little face.”
A second said: “Oh Paul. It’s so heartbreaking.”
Another added: “Speechless… Poor Paul……” followed by crying emojis.
