Coronation Street fans demand big change to ITV soap after latest schedule shake-up
CORONATION Street fans demand for a major format change to ITV soap after this week’s schedule shake-up.
The soaps schedule has been thrown into chaos this week as the Britain’s Got Talent’s live shows started last night.
Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be booted out of their usual slots to make way for the nightly live episodes of the talent competition.
Emmerdale will air one episode each weeknight at 7pm.
That will be followed by one 30 minute episode of Corrie at 7.30pm.
Both soaps will be followed by two-hour-long live broadcasts of Britain’s Got Talent’s semi-finals.
EastEnders is not affected by the schedule changes but will go head to head with Coronation Street rather than Emmerdale.
Corrie viewers have shared that they prefer the half an hour episodes every weeknight and demand ITV makes this format permanent.
Taking to Twitter, one said: “I love the 30 minute episodes this week, they flow a lot nicer and are much easier to sit through without feeling there is a load of filler scenes for time.”
Another wrote: “Can we have half-hour episodes all of the time? So much easier to get through. #Corrie”
A third penned: “Can we go back to 30 minute episodes? So much better #Corrie.”
Coronation Street will tackle two huge storylines this week.
Daisy Midgeley will face her stalker Justin in court for the trauma he has put her through.
Ryan Connor will make his way to court to face down the man who permanently disfigured him in the acid attack.
Meanwhile, quad mum Gemma Winter finally walked down the aisle to kebab-making Chesney Brown.
The pair’s hodge-podged wedding is bound to be a memorable one with Gemma throwing anything and everything together on a shoe-string budget.
However, Gemma’s brother Paul finally came clean about being diagnosed with motor neurone disease and only has months to live, leaving Gemma and Bernie devastated.
