I was fat-shamed as a chunky girl – strangers approach me & say my belly’s too big but that my mates are pretty
A WOMAN has opened up about being fat shamed while out shopping with a friend.
But as the social media user, who described her body shape as chunky, spoke about what happened, her followers rallied around her and told her to ignore the body shamers.
TikToker Kiara Cobb recalled the rude encounter in a recent video posted to her account @kiaracobb.
In it, Kiara can be seen facing the camera as she told her followers all about her experience.
The 21-year-old, who lives in New York, explained she was enjoying a day out with a friend when one of the shop’s employees started speaking to them.
Kiara explained: “A lady at a store today told my friend she’s so pretty and skinny.”
She continued: “And then she turned to me and said, ‘you just need to lose weight in your stomach but you have nice skin.”
As she told the second part of the story, Kiara turned to the side and rubbed her stomach.
She then proudly declared: “Normalise letting chunky people live in peace.”
But showing she wasn’t going to let the woman’s cruel words get her down, she had a big smile on her face.
And her social media followers helped to make that grin even bigger, as they flocked to the comment section to say she is “stunning” and that the woman had no right to say otherwise.
One fellow TikToker said: “People always give their opinions when it’s not needed. You’re absolutely beautiful.”
A second said: “STOPPPP this is horrid, you’re so beautiful no matter what.”
A third waded in, as they typed: “Girl you’re absolutely gorgeous.
“Some people are just bitter and still living by those toxic y2k beauty standards.”
Other people were in agreement that the store worker was jealous and decided to try to put her down to make herself feel better.
One commented: “She was deffo jealous girl, ur literally STUNNING.”
A second was in agreement, as they wrote: “You’re absolutely stunning.
“No one asked her for her opinion.”
