I make £70k in a job you’d never expect – you don’t need a degree, it’s easy to get into & the perks are top-notch
WOULD you like to earn up to £70k a year in a job that has been described as “the best in the world”?
One woman, who previously revealed her high earnings can reach as much as £70k, has shared how you could follow in her footsteps and make a mini fortune by being a Nanny for children.
Kyra, aka The Yummy Nanny, also shared why she’d recommend it to anyone interested pursuing a career in childcare as not only does it pay well, but it also has plenty of perks.
The Nanny, who can be found on TikTok at @theyummynanny, recently took part in a TikTok question and answer session about how she got into the profession after branding it “the best job in the world.”
In the footage, Kyra, who currently looks after twins in central London, offered up her advice, revealing she got into it by doing an apprenticeship, rather than a degree.
Opening up about her journey, The Yummy Nanny explained that she’d initially started working in a nursery, before realising that the perks are better in nannying for numerous reasons.
Kyra explained: “The first thing you should probably do is gain experience with children, obviously, whether that’s through babysitting or working in a nursery.
“I started off in a nursery and doing an apprenticeship in childcare.
“I was there for two years and once I qualified I decided I didn’t want to work there anymore as the pay was low.
“I was overworked and underpaid – it was just a lot. So I thought, ‘let me go into nannying’ where it’s more flexible and you plan your own day.”
She continued: “You’re your own boss, basically and it’s less children – it’s more fun. You go out to fun places.”
This is evident in many of her TikTok videos, which show her running errands for her boss in London’s posh store Harrods and even getting a two-week Christmas break.
However, she said to achieve the heights of her amazing job, you’ve got to be willing to put the work in and work for a cheaper rate, before putting your prices up down the line.
In a follow-up video, Kyra revealed: “If you want to get into nannying, I would say you should use childcare.co.uk – it’s a really good website.
“Parents post on there, they post for jobs, both before and after school roles, and full-time care and part-time care.
“And I would say my top tip for starting out is that you’re going to have to put your rate low.
“Don’t take anything less than £10 an hour, depending on your age, obviously.
“But if it’s your first time having experience with children, I’d say start low and work your way up because that’s how you’re going to build your clientele.
“If you start low, you’re going to be more in demand.”
Her other top tips include getting qualified, networking, signing up to different agencies and creating a portfolio on Instagram or TikTok to show your wealth of experience.
