Steeltown Murders fan call out glaring blunder in BBC crime drama – but can you spot it?
STEELTOWN Murders slammed for awkward blunder.
The four-part series, which is set in both the 1970s and the early 2000s, is based on a real-life investigation that spanned years.
But the BBC drama has recently come under fire.
The show follows the search for the killer of Geraldine Hughes, Pauline Floyd, and Sandra Newton.
In a recent episode, the team chose to enlist a psychic to learn more about the case.
During the scene, set in a forest, the psychic kneels down onto the ground.
One viewer pointed out an obvious blunder though.
They stated: “Just watching episode 3 and who else saw the continuity issue?
“When the Dutch psychic arrives in the wood I couldn’t understand why the knees of his trousers were dirty.
“Then he sank to his knees and scrabbled around the soil.
“I guess it was take 2?”
Another viewer complained: “The dutch psychic is a real pain…”
Other fans praised the show, with one writing to Twitter: “Gripped from start to finish.”
A second agreed, gushing: “Steeltown Murders on BBC iPlayer, watch it, it’s brilliant.”
In a recent episode the show made headlines for another blunder.
Viewers watched investigator Paul Bethell (played by Philip Glenister) remain convinced that the murderer was Sandra’s stepfather.
However, an “irritating” editing effect distracted viewers.
Fans took to Twitter to complain that the yellow filter was distracting them and branded it “annoying”.
One wrote: “Whatever filter they are using on Steeltown Murders it’s really annoying…smoky and yellow….just like my dad’s front room in the 70s.”
Another added: “Weirdly flat. So lacking in drama, it’s like a police reconstruction. And the yellow tinge is irritating. Sticking with it though.”
Philip Glenister, known for starring in smash hit crime drama Life On Mars, plays DCI Paul Bethell, who was responsible for helping to solve the case after it went cold for over 30 years.
Joining Philip in the co-lead role is Steffan Rhodri, who formerly starred as Dave Coaches in Gavin & Stacey, as Phil ‘Bach’ Rees, who joined DCO Bethell in solving the case.
The BBC drama hosts an incredible cast of talented actors from across the UK.
