People are only just realising there’s an easy way to get your jacket potato skins perfectly crispy every time
HOME cooks are only just realising that there’s an easy way to get jacket potato skins perfectly crispy every time.
The easy hack was revealed by chef Poppy O’Toole, who has been dubbed the Potato Queen on social media.
Poppy explained that the jacket is her current favourite way to eat potatoes, but she has a special method to make sure they come out perfect.
She told The Mirror: “I love a jacket potato.
“It’s especially good when you don’t know what you’re going to have for lunch or dinner as it’s super quick to make.”
However, she revealed that the secret is to “smush” the spud before it goes in your oven or air fryer.
Poppy explained: “Doing it this way is really tasty because you get super crispy outside and super fluffy inside.
“I like to add spices and garlic and all these different bits as well, that’s my go-to jacket potato simply because it’s filling, it’s cheap and you can put any topping on it.
“You can also do that with any other meal you’re prepping because you can use any kind of potato and it’s going to be delicious.”
She added that the humble spud can “go with anything”.
Her method is to microwave the potato until it’s almost cooked, about ten minutes.
After that she uses a glass to “smush” the spud, before lathering it in olive oil or melted butter, as well as some herbs.
It is then baked in the oven or air fryer to crisp up.
Poppy recently teamed up with Sainsbury’s to create a Summer Sunday Roast dinner, which reimagines the traditional roast for warm weather.
It features pork chops, lemon roast potatoes and a tear and share Yorkshire pudding with dipping gravy.
