I’m a baby naming pro – there’s some names parents think are unique but are super trendy… it’s bad news for Matildas
A BABY name consultant has revealed the names to stay away from if you’re trying to be unique.
The social media personality behind Dream Baby Names exposed a range of monikers that parents think are different but are actually super trendy.
“These are girl names people use to try and be different that are actually super trendy,” she said.
“This does not apply to you if you don’t care about name rankings. If you love it, use it anyway.”
She started off with “some heavy hitters”, including Eloise, Maeve, Eleanor and Ophelia.
She also warned that Harper is a “super trendy” name for baby girls, a moniker famously held by David and Victoria Beckham’s daughter.
“Harper is a huge one,” she said.
Other trendy girl names “in high use” that people think are different are Sage, Sloan and Cove.
“We all know Olivia will live at the top of the charts,” the expert continued. “But Olive is being used very heavily now.
“And I’m really sorry because I know a lot of you like this one… but it’s up there.”
Among trendy girl names are Freya, Ivy, Amelia, Stella, Luna, Nova and Esme.
Aurora, like Oakley and Everly, is “extremely high in use” right now, as well as Presley, Navy and Harlow.
Less predictable trendy names that she exposed were Matilda, Clementine, Penelope and Clover.
Interestingly, the expert warned that the name Scout is on the rise among baby girls.
She gave an honourable mention to the names Florence and Athena.
The Dream Baby Names video totted up almost three million views and attracted over 13k comments.
“So sad Eloise is being used so much,” one gutted viewer penned. “It’s been on my list since the Eloise movies!”
“My girl has one of these names and it wasn’t even in the top 100 when she was born 14 years ago and now… so popular,” another moaned.
