Woman lunch-shamed after sharing salad snap & asking for help losing weight – with people ALL slamming the same thing
A DIETER has appealed to others for help in losing weight, even sharing images of her lunch so she could get advice.
But she was met with a cruel response when trolls accused her of eating “over the top” food portions.
The woman revealed she was “desperately” hoping to “shift a couple of stone” in the coming months and was looking at both her workout regime and eating habits.
Therefore, she wanted advice from others in a similar position abour how to lose weight and to know whether she was doing anything wrong.
She posted anonymously on Mumsnet: “I eat v healthily, but probably too much.
“I don’t work out normally, but I have started again. I’m a person who has to cut back a lot and not eat much/work out daily to stay slim.”
The lady continued: “In the past when I was v slim, I went to the gym and had less carbs & smaller portions. I’m trying fasting also.
“I’ve had no breakfast, just got in from the school run, morning work and walking the dog.”
The woman then posted a snap of her meal – a tuna salad with tomatoes and red onion.
She served this with two cracker biscuits, as well as a generous helping of mayonnaise.
Alongside the photo, she continued: “Is this too much?
“There’s two tins of tuna and two crackers, the rest is just salad? Assuming that’s okay?
“I realise the mayo isn’t great but I need it for flavour and if I’m cutting out bread (biggest vice) then my treat is mayo.”
She went on to say: “Dinner is broccoli, cauliflower, carrots & chicken, with a piece of fruit afterwards.
And she finished her post by writing: “I’m attempting to cut right back on carbs, my portions seem big though but I’m hungry.
“Desperate to lose weight.”
Almost immediately, her post was inundated with comments from fellow Mumsnet users – but not everyone was kind with their advice.
One person wrote: “Two tins of tuna is over the top for one person for lunch. Also looks like a massive pile of mayo.
“What is more important is how your calories and macronutrients balance out over the week.
“But if this is what your version of a ‘light and healthy’ lunch is then it probably isn’t helping you to lose weight.”

Another person added: “Two tins of tuna is enough for a family of four!
“Adding mayonnaise adds a huge amount of calories. Try making mayonnaise with Greek yoghurt.”
Luckily, plenty of others were on hand to offer up some handy advice.
One suggested: “Take some of the replies with a pinch of salt, and I’d suggest even if you don’t count calories that you check the calories in a portion of certain foods.
“One large spoonful of mayo can be frighteningly calorific. Myfitnesspal or similar can help.”
As another said: “Some of these responses are bonkers! That looks like a perfectly normal and healthy lunch to me, of course context matters and what else you’re having.”
While a third typed: “Looks lovely. If it were me I’d swap one tin of tuna for a boiled egg for more protein to keep me full up for longer.
