She said: “Detoxing my boyfriends’ six-year-old dreads for the first time.
“His hair is so long.”
During the one-minute reel, Alessa shares how she refreshed her partner’s hair and explains that this needs doing every few months to clear it of grease, grime, and to help banish frizz.
After placing her boyfriend’s hair into a bowl of hot water, she is seen adding baking soda, lemon juice, and then the apple cider vinegar.
The water begins to bubble and fizz, before turning a dark brown colour as the grease and grime are pulled out of her partner’s dreadlocks.
In another video, Alessa is seen repeating the process twice more, each twice squeezing the braids and scrubbing her partner’s scalp.
Finally, she shampoos and conditions the man’s hair, before revealing the end result – his dreadlocks now looking tighter, longer, and blonder.
She commented: “Wowwww.”
Below the video, she added: “Y’all just to clarify he washes his hair regularly, this was just the first-ever detox.”
She added: “It’s different! a detox is harsher than just a wash so it isn’t done very often. Normally you can just do a wash and condition to clean the scalp!”
The final reveal attracted plenty of attention online, gaining more than 332,700 likes and 6.8 million views.
