I’m a mum – kids always complain the paddling pool is too cold, so I came up with a 3p hack that works a charm
LOTS of parents will know that as soon as the paddling pool comes out in the summer, it isn’t always smooth sailing.
That’s because little ones often complain that the water inside is too cold, as they refuse to get in until it’s warmed up.
But now one smart mum has come up with a way to warm up the paddling pool water – for just 11p.
Unveiling her cheap hack on her social media profile, mum Autumn Grace said: “Do you know a mum or dad who could use this hack for the summer?”
Autumn, whose TikTok profile is @honestlyautumn, then went on to reveal that all parents need is a few black bin liners.
These can be bought from all supermarkets, with Tesco selling packets of 30 for just £1, meaning each bag is just 3p.
Autumn then lifted the lid on her nifty trick, as she demonstrated how it’s done in the video.
She explained: “This is one of the best mum hacks for the summer.
“If your pool water is too cold for your children, a quick and easy way to warm it up is by placing black trash bags over the top.”
Autumn gently placed each of the bags just over the top of the water, and waited for the sun to work its magic.
And many of the mum’s 535k followers were loving the idea, as they said their children would benefit big time.
One person wrote: “This is such a great idea.”
A second branded it “genius”, as another TikTok user commented: “Thank you. This is life saving.”
Another social media fan typed: “This really works? I’m going to try this. Thank you.”
However, others said they’d come up with their own unique ways to get the job done.
One person suggested that there is an alternative purchase that works similarly.
They said: “Get the disposable black tablecloths from the dollar store. Cheaper and bigger.”
Meanwhile, another said they boil a pot of water to mix with the cold water to make sure it’s a nice and safe temperature for their little ones to splash around in.
And one more TikToker explained they leave their garden hose in the sun so that when they put the water in, it’s already relatively warm.
