BBC Breakfast in hosting shake up as Jon Kay replaced again
BBC Breakfast viewers tuned in for a second time this week to see that regular start-of-the-week co-host Jon Kay was missing again.
Jon, 53, usually sits on the iconic BBC Breakfast sofa alongside co-host Sally Nugent, 51, but Ben Thompson, 42, has replaced the broadcaster for the last two morning shows.
Ben is no stranger to BBC Breakfast, so morning viewers were in safe hands; however, no mention had been made of Jon’s absence.
Ben and Sally covered headlines such as the “sombre” and “shaking” incident that took place in Nottingham yesterday, the RNLI lifeboats saving migrants, the junior doctor strikes and the shortlisted names of the mechanical bull that appeared at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Other regular BBC Breakfast hosts also appeared, with Nina Warhurst joining the pair on the sofa to discuss the UK economic growth of 0.2%, which took place in April, and sports presenter John Watson also had a segment on the show.
At the weekend, Jon posted a Reel on Instagram of Sally playing the recorder live on BBC Breakfast as he sat and watched.
He captioned the comical video: “So lucky to work and hang out with @sallynugenttv #bbcbreakfast.”
Fans love the duo, with one commenting: “This is simply entertainment at its best!!”
Another added: “Best duo on the BBC.”
Jon shared a team snap last week, which included weather specialist Carol Kirkwood, sporty John and broadcaster Ben Boulos, which viewers approved of the line-up.
Comments like “I love this team” and “Dream Team” were used with an excited onlooker adding: “I think quite a few people love this team!”
With any luck, he will be back on viewers’ screens soon.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
