Eamonn Holmes in fresh attack on ITV as former This Morning star says bosses are talking ‘rubbish’
EAMONN Holmes has issued a fresh attack on ITV as the former This Morning star says management are talking ‘rubbish’.
The former GMTV breakfast anchor slammed his old bosses on his breakfast programme as he continued with feud with his former Daytime colleague.
Carolyn McCall CEO of ITV, Director of Television Kevin Lygo and general counsel Kyla Mullins faced a panel of MP’s to give evidence to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport committee.
The trio were questioned after Phillip Schofield, 61, admitted he lied to ITV management, his colleagues and his own representatives over his consensual relationship with a young colleague.
But GB News presenter Eamonn, 63, once again hit out at ITV management on his daily breakfast show.
He said: “I suppose some of the areas she has to reassure people is, what is she like as regards protecting those who are vulnerable and the disciplinary procedures?
“They use all the usual nonsense and rubbish that they talk about, but they have to investigate.
“When they investigated and they asked Schofield did you have an affair with this guy, which is what they didn’t ask – I know exactly what they asked.
“And they then asked the young lad involved in all of this. They need a transcript of what actually took place that day, because that was not a thorough investigation.”
Speaking to Good Morning Britain commentator Andrew Pierce, Eamonn added: “He [Schofield] is totally discredited. He’s admitted he’s lied to his colleagues, to the Daily Mail, to his family, his agents, to everyone. And yet, people are deaf to this.
“People sit and go, ‘poor Philip, what’s he going through? He’s been bullied’. He’s been this, he’s been that. The man has lied. He’s admitted he’s lied.
“And where do we go from here? Carolyn McCall, what did you do about it? Because she’s woke sensitive…she’s a very hands-on chief executive, but her hands are in all the wrong places it appears.”
Eamonn previously hit out at his former colleague on Twitter: “Schofield has finally been caught out … But he’s not the only guilty party. 4 high members of Itv management knew what sort of man he was.
“And NEVER once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people.”
Whilst as part of the hearing, Carolyn slammed Eamaonn for his comments on social media as she explained: “We didn’t receive it. It was on Twitter. Don’t look at Twitter.
“I think it’s actually defamatory. Never mind anything else. But of course, we wouldn’t say that because it would just inflame the situation.”
