I’m a celebrity hair stylist and can tell what you’re like based on your hair colour… it’s bad news for balayage
ACCORDING to a Celebrity Hair Stylist, your hair colour says a lot about you.
When it comes to blondes, whether you’ve got bold brights, an all-over bleach, balayage, baby lights or money pieces, Bblonde Brand Educator, Jason Collier explained that he can instantly tell if you’re loud, assertive or laid back.
So if you are thinking of changing up your hairstyle and have an appointment booked in soon, you’ll want to listen up.
BOLD BRIGHTS
If you regularly book in for a bright blonde look, according to this hair whizz, you are often a very loud person.
Jason explained: “Clients who come in for a bright dye job are natural extroverts and entertainers and are the life and soul of the salon.
“There’s never a dull moment when they are around, and they have everyone laughing along with them.
“A session with them in the salon means there will never be a dull moment.
“These people can sometimes be seen as ‘too much’, and are the most chatty, loud clients, which is absolutely lovely, if somewhat distracting at key times of the session.
“They are almost always in creative fields such as the arts, fashion or film, or of course students.
“They are looking to stand out from the crowd and make a bold statement about who they are.”
ALL-OVER BLEACH
If you get your hair bleached, Jason claimed that you’re probably self-assured and assertive.
Jason said: “The confidence that oozes out of a full head blonde should be bottled.
“They are charismatic, self-assured and know exactly what they want, and how to get it.
“They are assertive in the chair and are not afraid to speak their mind.
“These clients have high standards and are never shy in letting stylists know if they aren’t happy.
“They don’t mask their feelings, and you’ll know exactly where you stand by the look on their face.
“However, do a good job and you will have a happy, satisfied customer forever.
“Typically, women 35-50 favour this look, which is why they are so assertive – they have the experience and maturity to know what suits them.”
BALAYAGE
However, if you go for balayage, Jason claimed that you’re more of a chilled out, low maintenance kind of woman.
Jason added: “This girl is a Californian beach babe at heart, loves travelling and spends her days daydreaming about sunnier climes and scrolling inspirational accounts on TikTok.
“Clients with balayage are the lowest maintenance and laid back.
“The appointments are always chill and relaxed as they sit reading with a green tea.
“Balayage clients typically voice their opinions less, and sometimes can be prone to people pleasing.
“Their mood is always neutral, so it can be difficult to decipher their true emotions and what is going on behind the pleasant smile.
“This is the millennial staple. Made popular by Instagram influencers around a decade ago, the style has stuck with women in their late 20s and 30s as they seek a simple, effortless colour as they navigate work, families, and life.”
BABYLIGHTS
If you’ve opted for babylights, Jason thinks you’re someone who is classy and kind.
Jason claimed: “Babylights are fine highlights that blend with your natural base colour, and are applied to smaller sections of hair, making it a universal favourite for everyone.
“This client doesn’t take huge risks, but values understated glamour and is incredibly elegant and put together.
“They are classy, polite, kind, and have a great listening ear.
“This client is nervous to take a big leap and to jump out of their comfort zone – they stick to what they know and would rather feel comfortable than follow a trend.
“They are confident in themselves, and don’t feel the need to follow the crowd.
“In 2023 I am seeing a skew towards 40+ women, as they seek to keep a well-ageing appearance.”
MONEY PIECES
Finally, if you are donning the latest social media hair trend – money pieces – according to this hair whizz, you’re “cool” and obsessed with appearances.
Jason concluded: “This is one cool girl! She’s up to date on the latest trends, is obsessed with TikTok, fashion, and has her finger on the pulse of what’s hot at all times.
“This client is most likely to document the salon visit for TikTok and will absolutely ask for an iced matcha latte as her refreshment and what your moon rising sign is.
“This client could be potentially aloof, but it’s not coming from a place of rudeness, she’s just got her head in her phone the whole time.
“Typically, I see 20–30-year-old women asking for a money piece, and they all have jobs like PR, Marketing, social media and Advertising.
“They are the ‘clean girls’ of TikTok and have everyone wondering how they are so put together 24/7.
“They have a 5-9 before their 9-5 and are obsessed with everything being aesthetic.”
