My 2-part DIY solution will repel ants from your home – as a bonus, it doubles as a natural, all-purpose cleaner
A WOMAN has revealed her perfectly natural ant repellant that also doubles up as an all-purpose cleaner.
Even better, this two-part DIY, chemical-free solution is safe to use around children and pets.
Instagrammer Brunch with Babs shared her concoction in an appropriate outfit.
She wore a brightly-coloured trouser suit decorated with oranges, because this citrus fruit was at the centre of her “DIY all natural ant deterrent.”
“It really works,” she said. But it also had a dual purpose. “It doubles as a great all-purpose cleaner.”
She asked viewers to guess the main ingredient in her recipe, and pointed at her orange-print outfit as she began her instructions.
“Save those orange peels, whether it’s from a naval orange or little cuties,” she wrote.
“Put those peels in a mason jar, and cover it with white vinegar. [Then] cover with a piece of parchment paper, seal, and let it sit for two weeks.”
After two weeks, Babs said the solution should be strained into a mason jar.
“Next mix equal parts of the solution with equal parts of water,” she said. “[and] pour the solution into a spray bottle.”
Use her magic mixture, she explained, and spray around windows, doors, and cracks. “Any place you think ants may be coming in.”
It’s a win-win recipe. “Two things ants avoid at all costs,” she wrote, “oranges and vinegar. This is a double whammy.”
Her Instagram post has been liked over 256,000 times.
Commenters were willing to give it a go.
“Ants have been invading my bedroom. I definitely have to try this,” said one.
But the final comment had eyes only for her trouser suit. “Love your outfit,” they said.
