Man Utd set to launch improved Mason Mount transfer bid as they step up pursuit for Chelsea star
MANCHESTER UNITED are tipped to raise their bid for Chelsea’s Mason Mount to more than £50million.
The Blues have already rejected the Red Devils’ opening offer of £40m for the England midfielder and so far have dug their heels in for nearer £80m.
It’s thought Liverpool have ducked out of the hunt for the 24-year-old, largely due to the potential fee.
The Stamford Bridge academy product is entering the last 12 months of his contract.
Mount has notched up 195 appearances for his boyhood club, providing 33 goals and 37 assists.
But talks over a new deal reportedly stuttered to a halt.
One reason could be Mount playing less in the disastrous short reigns of Graham Potter and interim chief Frank Lampard over the past campaign.
And he divides opinion amongst Chelsea fans.
Many love him for coming up through the ranks on his way to 36 caps for England.
But others believe his form has faltered over the past year – along with Chelsea’s.

The latest name on that list is Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
The one-cap Belgian, 19, is also said to be interested the Red Devils.
