I work on a billionaires’ superyacht – here are the secrets about life on the sea including some very strange requests
A SUPERYACHT stewardess who rubs shoulders with billionaires has revealed secrets from the sea – including some very weird requests.
Giselle Azueta was introduced to the luxury industry through a friend, but nothing could have prepared her for what she’s seen – on and below deck.
The 39-year-old saw this job as a free ticket to travel the world but found the role stressful with demanding clients.
She told NeedToKnow: “I always liked the sea very much and travelling is my passion.
“In the family, we had a yacht in Puerto Vallarta, so I had a vague idea of boats and grew up sailing.
“I never imagined that it was a career that existed so when I discovered it, but it soon became a dream to work as a stewardess on superyachts.”
The head stewardess achieved her dreams, landing the top position on board.
And her experience has meant dealing with some very strange high-end clients.
Giselle said: “On one occasion, a multimillionaire guest made a proposal that he would pay $10,000, (£7,899), to a crew member who defecated on top of a glass table while he lay under it.
“A different guest made the request that he wanted one of the hostesses to be watching him at all times while he ate dinner.
“And the hostess had to stand in the corner of the dining room, watching him eat dinner.
“But I think that all of us who dedicate ourselves to working on these yachts are crazy.
“You agree to live on a yacht in the middle of the ocean with strangers!”
TOP ‘SUPERYACHT’ SECRET
The seasoned stewardess said nothing phases her these days, after learning a particular industry rule.
According to Giselle, staff are never allowed to say the word ‘no’ to a customer.
“Any request, no matter how strange or crazy it may seem, it is our duty to do so”, she added.
“As long as it is not sexual or threatens the health or life of the crew.
“Superyacht owners also say that the crew has to match their yacht, they have to be as pretty as their yacht.”
The 39-year-old suggested this is why most employees around her are young and attractive.
“It’s a very well-paid industry and it’s also a very superficial industry”, she said.
Since working way up, Giselle is in charge of managing guests and their demands.
They will hand over a preference list full of food, drinks and activities they wish to experience on board.
“I love to plan the events and theme dinners!” Said the head-stew.
“But I also have to supervise the laundry and housekeeping hostesses, as well as being in charge of the yacht’s administration and accounts.”
Giselle described the nature of the job and said it will allow you to get to know yourself.
It will also offer the opportunity to visit beautiful locations across the globe.
“All the incredible places, the views, the sunsets, the friends and friends what do you do from different parts of the world, make it all worth it,” she said.
“The crew become your family.”
This comes as a private jet flight attendant revealed the craziest and worst requests from the most demanding passengers she’s served on board.
Stewardess Arta claimed a hygiene-obsessed jet owner left her crawling along the cabin to retrieve single strands of hair.
Another flight attendant in the same industry, Saskia Swann, even witnessed her boss having sex in his cabin.
Of the moment she walked in on her boss joining the mile-high club, she says: “All I could see were his feet poking out beneath the duvet. I couldn’t see his face, only her bare back. She was kneeling astride him, groaning.
“It wasn’t the moment to ask, ‘Would you care for the full English?’”
And fellow stewardess Tia Haskell shared her bizarre stories too.
“One very famous lady asked us to land immediately as she wanted to get a burger”, she said.
