Mum reveals controversial parenting hack which sees her kid put himself to bed at 6pm – and the trolls are out in force
A MUM has revealed her hack that means her kid puts himself to bed at 6pm every night.
US-based Melissa Reilly shared how she puts on free YouTube videos which tire her son out – but not everyone was supportive of her parenting tip.
In a video which has racked up over 29,000 likes, she said: “You have to try this!
“Ok parents if you haven’t discovered Jump Challenges on YouTube you need to look it up for your kids.
“It’s basically a collection of online video games that encourages your child to run, jump, duck, dance and do all these movements to control a character on the TV, which they are not actually controlling of course, but don’t tell my child that.
“He’s been wanting to do this all day and he literally put himself to bed at 6pm last night.”
She added on her @dog_mom_adventures account: “My kid is obsessed!
“Have you tried it with your kids yet?! Let me know what you think? Do they love it too?”
Despite many parents saying they would try the sleep-inducing trick, others were quick to chime in with their own views.
One said: “Why are you advocating screen addiction for children?”
A second agreed: “How about sending them outside!!!!”
A third commented: “As an early childhood teacher, y’all better not.
“Be having this on for more than 1 hour a day.
“Get yo lazy self up and take them outside, build a course, break it up with yoga and balance.
“So many parents just stick their kids in front of the tv for hours during the day……this better be for days when you’re sick or it’s raining not a everyday go to.”
Another added: “Poor for your neighbours downstairs, bumping all the time.”
However, one defended her, saying: “*put your kids outside* sometimes it’s raining y’all.
“Some people don’t have yards. Maybe these kids were outside earlier.”
