I got a tattoo on my LIPS – it was traumatic, they swelled and went crusty… heed my warnings
AN AUSSIE beauty fanatic was left covered in cold sores after her dream of a lip blush tattoo went horribly wrong.
Maddy Baucia, from Italy, shared the major fail on TikTok after forking out for the popular beauty treatment, which sees pigment inked into the pout.
Before things went wrong, the make-up whizz said she had hoped the tattoo would leave her with a nude pink pair of lips – something she achieved with her favourite lipstick.
Once Maddy had consulted with the expert, the pro applied a numbing cream and made an outline to ensure the inking stayed ”nice and even”.
Shortly after the whizz had worked on Maddy’s pout, the young Aussie noticed her lips had began to balloon up ”pretty badly”.
This, however, is a common side-effect and nothing to be concerned about, Maddy explained in her video.
”The whole process was actually really painful. But I’ve spoken to some people who have said it didn’t hurt at all.”
Although at first the client was satisfied with the colour and praised the ink whizz, the joys didn’t last long.
Just a day after the procedure, Maddy said that her lips felt as if she had applied ”an old, crusty liquid matte lipstick on”.
Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of the nightmare, as four days later the young Aussie found her lips covered in cold sores.
”Are things going well? No, not really. If you’re prone to cold sores, expect a pretty hectic recovery.”
Six weeks later, it was time to get a touch-up of the lip blush tattoo, although Maddy was quite hesitant.

”I was pretty scared to go back in case I broke out in cold sores again.”
Sadly, despite taking antiviral tablets as advised, her nightmare became true and Maddy was covered in the spots once more.
Looking back at the experience two months later, Maddy said: ”Would I do it again? Probably not.
”I think I’m just not suited to it due to me propensity to get cold sores after trauma to the lip.
”I think there was nothing wrong with my tattoo artist – she did a great job and she chose a really good colour.
”I just think the tattoo didn’t really hold on my lip, maybe because my pain tolerance wasn’t very good for this sort of treatment – the tattoo just couldn’t go deep enough.
”The results are not exactly what I was after.”-
