You’re measuring flour wrong – scooping it from the bag’s a mistake, the better way to get good results when you bake
HOME bakers everywhere will be grateful for this tip that has the potential to transform your cakes and cookies.
A content producer shared her simple tip, and it all comes down to how one measures flour.
Ramona Cruz-Peters’ (@fabeveryday) TikTok is all about “Food, home entertaining, and travel.”
She has a loyal following of over 11,000 and another 105,000 likes.
In this post, she tackled kitchen weights and measures, most particularly a central ingredient to any baking recipe – flour.
According to Ramona, we’ve not been doing it correctly, and it could explain some disasters in the baking department.
“You’re measuring your flour wrong,” she said. But she had a solution and it was incredibly simple.
“Here’s what to do to get the best results in your baked goods,” she wrote.
“The key to fluffy baked goods is to properly measure your flour,” she explained.
“Since most recipes don’t measure by weight, the next best option is to spoon and level your flour.”
Don’t, she said, scoop your measuring cup directly into the flour.
There was a good reason for this. “[It] causes the flour to be packed into the cup giving you too much for your recipe.
This, she said, could result in denser and drier cooking results.
She had a solution. “Instead lightly spoon the flour into the measuring cup and level off the excess with a flat surface like a spoon handle.
“It’s a simple step but makes a huge difference.”
She certainly struck a chord with her followers, with one saying in the comments section that she was already a convert.
“I measure my flour the same way you do,” this fan said in conclusion.
