I made my own DIY patio pond using a bucket from B&M – I love it but people give me the same stark warning
EVER wanted your own pond but don’t feel like you have the space?
A woman has revealed how she made her own DIY patio pond using a B&M bucket – but it’s prompted a stark warning from many people online.
Lucy Currie shared how she picked up the large bucket from the home retailer and then added white stones to the bottom.
The home whizz then stacked bricks on top of each other to create different levels for her plants.
Then it was time to fill up the “patio pond” and she used a hose for the water.
Once that was done, she added a water pump from Amazon and then bought some tiny sickleback fish to go inside.
Lucy wrote on her @lucycurrie34 account: “My DIY Patio Pond.
“It’s solar powered, this one came with a cable connected to a solar panel which I wanted as I wanted my pond in a shaded area.
“Fish were climatized for hours before putting them in.
“The foundation has a little filter on it so may help as little but sickle backs like to feed to algae as well.”
Many people seemed to be a fan of the DIY pond, with one writing: “loving these ideas.”
However, other people were quick to give her the same stark warning about local cats fancying a fishy snack.
One said: “Will the fish be ok with cats I really want to do this but think I’ll need to put wire or net on top as neighbour has 3 cats.”
Another added: “Love this but would need protection ring from the cats.”
Lucy replied: “I don’t have many cats in my area.”
Meanwhile, one person advised what she should do about rain water, saying: “I’ve done one of these last year my husband drilled a few holes in the top so it don’t overflow when it rains.”
