EgyptAir Flight 804 Investigation: Data Recorder Shows Signs Of Smoke On Board

Debris from crashed EgyptAir Flight MS804 has indicated that there was smoke in the bathroom and onboard equipment, Egyptian investigators said Wednesday. The Cairo-bound flight went down in the Mediterranean Sea in May killing all 66 people aboard. The investigators said that the wreckage from the plane’s front section showed “signs of high temperature.” A flight data recorder suggested that there was smoke on the doomed Airbus A320.

Boeing Co. is considering stretching its largest 777 model to create a twin-engine aircraft in an attempt to rival Airbus Group SE’s ailing A380 superjumbo jet, sources told Bloomberg. The Chicago-based airplane manufacturer has had private talks with several carriers about the so-called 777-10X, including Emirates, the world’s largest operator of both Boeing’s 777 and Airbus’s double-decker plane, the report said.
