Aaron Persky, the judge who sentenced 20-year-old Brock Turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman, is presiding over a plea agreement in which a Latino man faces three years in prison for committing a similar crime, The Guardian reported.

The harsher sentencing in the case, which bears striking resemblance to details in Turner's case, has drawn rebuke and further accusations of Persky's perceived bias.

US Banks Pass Federal Reserve Stress Test, But Deutsche Bank, Santander Holdings Fail, Again

The U.S. Federal Reserve said Wednesday that the nation’s largest banks appear to have the financial muscle to withstand ugly economic scenarios, like a housing market crash or double-digit unemployment. But two banks — Deutsche Bank and Santander Holdings — failed the Fed’s annual stress test. Both failed the tests last year and Santander has become the first bank to fail it for three consecutive years.

Republican Convention 2016: Deal Between ACLU, Cleveland Gives Protesters More Leeway

A federal judge authorized a new plan Wednesday allowing demonstrators at the  Republican National Convention in Cleveland next month to protest in an area that will be readily visible to conventiongoers. Approved by U.S. District Judge Dan Aaron Polster, the new plan also cuts in half the size of a so-called event zone where demonstrations and mobility will be limited and gives protesters more time to demonstrate.

Black boxes on the doomed EgyptAir flight stopped recording when it dropped off radar at 37,000 feet

Investigators have downloaded data from one of the black box flight recorders on EgyptAir Flight MS804 and are preparing to analyze it, bringing them closer discovering what caused the jet to crash, Egypt's investigation committee said on Wednesday.

The Airbus A320 plunged into the eastern Mediterranean Sea en route from Paris to Cairo on May 19, killing all 66 people on board. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
