ISIS's "caliphate" has survived for two years.

The terrorist group has been able to hold on to some of the territory in Iraq and Syria that it first seized in 2014, when its rampage across the Middle East shocked the world.

Brexit just made Ireland look even more attractive for tech

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

Dublin’s commissioner for startups, Niamh Bushnell, reacted to Britain’s decision to exit the European Union by issuing a press release with “Thanks to Brexit” as a headline. International Business Times

With the Federal Reserve's big test out of the way Wall Street is going on a huge buying binge.

That is, it is buying itself.

The Dodd-Frank stress tests, which measure whether financial institutions with more than $50 billion in US-based assets could survive a severe recession without infecting the rest of the economy, mandate that if a bank fails the firm is not allowed to return cash to shareholders in the form of dividend and buybacks.

The National Interest

Daniel L. Davis

Gobal Governance, Americas

The United States is not a magician. It can't grant democracy wishes.

I’ve often railed against the foreign policy elite in this country and the often illogical and ineffective plans they support. But it occurs to me there is a much bigger problem at play. It’s not merely a matter of a flawed policy here or a bad decision there. The heart of the problem is much deeper. The majority of America’s increasingly defective foreign policies...
