Suicide Prevention: Facebook Is Using Artificial Intelligence To Identify Suicidal Users

In an effort to improve user safety on its platform, Facebook has started testing the use of artificial intelligence to identify users who may be showing signs of suicide, according to a report from the BBC. The social network is making use of algorithms that are able to spot warning signs in user activity and interactions with friends in posts and comments that may indicate the person is feeling suicidal.

Snapchat's parent company, Snap Inc., just raised $3.4 billion in the tech industry's largest initial public offering in over two years.

Snap sold 200 million shares at $17 apiece, valuing the company at $23.8 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter.

It had aimed to raise $3.2 billion by offering the shares at between $14 and $16 — for a maximum valuation of about $22 billion.
