Inmates first in state to get mobile methadone program

ESTELL MANOR, N.J. (AP) — One by one, inmates at the Atlantic County Justice Facility made their way outside in a secured area on a recent Wednesday and stepped into a bus from the John Brooks Recovery Center for their daily dose of methadone. The inmates are the first in the state to get methadone, a medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction, from a mobile service while behind bars. WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota State College of Science has removed its smokestack as part of a wider project that included demolition within its central heating plant. The Wahpeton Daily News reports that the school reaffirmed its commitment to converting from coal heat to natural gas on Aug. 9. Executive Director of Facilities Management Dallas Fossum says the cost of the project is about $700,000. He says space within the central heating plant will be used as a warehouse. As the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, blotting out the star for millions on Monday, a team of scientists hopes that people around the United States will have the chance to listen to their vision of what an eclipse sounds like.

The team of researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology created an original composition meant to represent the eclipse using sound.
