Provincial police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said the murder and arrest took place on Saturday afternoon in Feni Village, in Centane.
“The allegation is that both the deceased and the suspect were [at a] traditional ceremony in their locality when the quarrel started about tobacco,” said Manatha.
Allegedly, both the 25-year-old suspect and the 23-year-old victim, both males, drew their knives and attacked one another. The suspect sustained stab wounds to the upper body while the stab wounds to the victim – also his upper body – were fatal.
“The deceased died instantly on the spot,” said Manatha.
The suspect was arrested and charged with murder while the identity of the deceased would remain unknown until his next of kin were informed.
