Suite Spot: The Clement Hotel, Palo Alto
The newly opened Clement Hotel is now the third of Chen’s properties in a row on El Camino Real that also includes the Sheraton and the 16-year-old Westin Palo Alto, and it’s clearly designed to charm Silicon Valley travelers used to everything on demand — and every luxury.
High-end brands in the boutique hotel — just 21 one-bedroom suites and two deluxe king rooms — include Matouk bed linens, Frette towels, 65-inch Samsung Smart TVs, Toto Washlet toilets, Nespresso Vertuoline coffeemakers, Voss water and Verde bath products made with McEvoy Ranch olive oil.
[...] the ultimate luxury may be 24-hour access to complimentary snacks and meals in the self-serve Guest Pantry, and almost as many hours of chef-cooked meals, also included in room rates and available in the airy Dining Room, by the sunny rooftop pool, on the glassed-in Terrace overlooking El Camino Real or via room service.
If you’re not conducting your own power meetings on site, Sand Hill Road firms, Facebook and other tech giants are within a short drive — as is a Tesla showroom.
The Clement bills itself as not just “all-inclusive” — breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks, wine, beer and cocktails are included — but also as “all-exclusive,” meaning guests can customize the complimentary goodies in the mini-fridge or let the chef know in advance of special dietary restrictions for more menu options.
The muted palette, leather furnishings and MidCentury Modern touches in the Living Room typify the Clement’s interior design — not too hipster, but not too stodgy — courtesy of San Francisco designer Stanford Hughes.
If you’re feeling social, join the evening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; if you prefer a sugar pick-me-up, grab a locally made Tin Pot Creamery ice cream or a Kara’s cupcake from the always-open Guest Pantry.
