Suite Spot: Monarch Beach Resort

The sprawling 400-room hotel overlooks the newly expanded, multilevel pool complex, which seems to cascade into the Robert Trent Jones-designed Monarch Beach Golf Links, which in turn tumbles down to the eponymous beach.

If you tire of the bright Southern California sun shining on the infinity-edge pools and lounging deck, slip into the new Miraval Life in Balance Spa, which includes special relaxation and tranquillity zones.

The new poolside cantina, Sombra, can also take the edge off with its extensive margarita, Tequila and mezcal menu.

Michael Mina’s Stonehill Tavern is still the signature restaurant, but the new 33 North lounge, Aveo Table+Bar and Part & Parcel Market and updated Club 19 offer appealing, slightly less pricey options for sustenance or sipping.
