Girl, 16, badly injured in Hayward house fire

A 16-year-old girl was in critical condition Wednesday night after firefighters rescued her from a burning home in Hayward while her two brothers escaped with minor injuries, officials said.

Two boys, 17 and 8, came out of a bedroom at the home and saw a fire had started in the living room, Pappas said.

Alameda County firefighters rescued her from the house with life-threatening injuries.

Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire, but isolated its origin to one wall in the living room, Pappas said.
