Plan to keep Raiders in Oakland goes to NFL for review

The NFL is reviewing a formal plan detailing how a new stadium in Oakland would be financed and developed in an effort to keep the Raiders from moving to Las Vegas.

The plan’s financial backer, the Fortress Investment Group — which is working with former NFL players Ronnie Lott and Rodney Peete — submitted the proposal to the league sometime in the last week, said Sam Singer, a spokesman for the joint group working on the Oakland stadium plan.

[...] the financing proposal called for $600 million from Lott’s team and Fortress Investment, a combined $500 million from the Raiders and the NFL, and $200 million in infrastructure money from Oakland.

The Vegas plan, which would create a larger, domed stadium, faces some financial concerns, too, after casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and well as investment bank Goldman Sachs pulled out of the project.
